RED TIDES


Red Tides is a natural phenomenon of ocean water turns red due to the phytoplankton. Red Tides can cause mass mortality of marine biota, changes in community structure of aquatic ecosystems, poisoning and can also cause death in humans. This happens because it emitted toxic phytoplankton.

Factors affecting the phenomenon that is Red Tides, including warm sea surface temperatures, low salinity, high nutrient content, and a calm sea. In addition, phytoplankton can be spread far by the wind, currents, and storms.
